The Real Cost of Cheap Service: Why Paying More Can Be the Smarter Choice
Starting a new business is exciting but also a lot of work: insurance, banking, phone lines, email addresses… the list goes on. Thankfully, some companies have it all figured out. Kudos to the Chamber of Commerce and the very smooth banking experience at Knab! But then there’s the frustrating side. Like transferring a phone subscription. Why is porting a number in 2024 still such a hassle? A cheap plan, already cancelled before use, all due to atrocious customer service. Would paying the service organization twelve times a low overseas rate per call truly be less expensive than paying a realistic fee for proper service once? This is even without considering the management costs involved in installing and managing the overseas services. “Why go with such a budget company?” my daughter asked. Lesson learned; she realized it much earlier than I did. Selection of a new supplier with an excellent customer service who onboarded me flawlessly. There’s nothing like reaching a real person who actually helps, not a script-reading robot! In the end, I’m paying twice as much for the new plan. But happily, just because they talked to me when I needed them!
